ROTARY CLUB SZCZECIN INTERNATIONAL

RC HERRENTALS

Visit of RC Herentals, Antwerp, Belgium, 11th March 2006.
To recognise the excellent financial support provided by RC Herentals to the Incubator project an invitation was offered to visit Szczecin. Our good friend from Belgium, Jochem Bruinsma carried the invitation to the Antwerp Club and the visit took place on Saturday 11th March.

Although the weather was bitterly cold with the occasional wafts of snow the 12 visitors were shown a flavour of the city on the Sunday. After a visit to a “traditional” Polish open-air market a tour of the city was carried out visiting sites of key historical interest.

In the evening an excellent dinner took place at the Restaurant “Na Koncu Korytarza” in the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes, where our guests were able to taste traditional Polish dishes.

On the Monday the guests visited the Manufacturing Plant of Crown Packaging in Goleniow. During the evening the visit finished with a joint Club dinner in the city’s oldest restaurant, “Vienna”, which was at some time owned by the famous German Boxer Max Schmelling.

The visit formed another bridge in the friendship between the 2 Clubs.Phil Brooks
