Change of Presidents, June 2007

The Change of Presidents Ceremony 2007 took place on the riverboat “Odra Queen” on the 30th June 2007. The cruise was a variation from the usual format and had an additional significance as it coincided with the visit of over 20 members of the Rotary Club of Neath in Wales and the inauguration of new Member Christer Mattsson. Past Member Janet Fitzner also made the long journey from Warszawa.
Neath is the hometown of our new President and he lived there until he went to University. Many of the Neath members are personal friends and it was a great pleasure to be able to welcome such a large contingent. (Details of their visit are elsewhere on the website).

The boat cruised along the Odra River, around the Port area and we were also able to show our guests the beauty of the nature reserve around Lake Dabie.
Outgoing President Andrzej Puchalski made a presentation on the major successes of the club under his period of office and new President Phil Brooks gave a short presentation of the plan to reintroduce Club service teams.
The “Brothers” group provided music during the cruise, but they faced very strong competition from the excellent voices from our friends from Wales, Indeed our Members could not resist the challenge and put up a very good show in response.

A charity lottery was held and a bottle of Goldwasser vodka was auctioned. The President of Rotary International Wilf Wilkinson had donated the bottle on his recent visit. These activities raised 2000 PLN for charity.
New member Christer Mattsson was also welcomed into the Club by the two Presidents.

After a very sociable event the revelers finally left the boat, one hour after the scheduled time.
