ROTARY CLUB SZCZECIN INTERNATIONAL

Auxiliary Body Lift – Children’s Home Police, September 2007

Many children, who are cared for by the staff at the Children’s home in Police, a district of Szczecin, do not have full capability of movement and are not able to totally care for themselves.

They can stay at the school up to the age of 25 years and as they get older they naturally become heavier and it is more difficult to provide assistance. Rotary Club Szczecin Pomerania were asked if they could help with the buying of equipment which will provide mechanical means of helping the staff.

The equipment was purchased with the support of the Rotary Club of Herentals, Belgium and the handing over ceremony took place at the home on the 10th September.
Many of our Club members attended the handover. Mr. Jochem Bruinsma, represented the Belgium Club and Mr. Leszek Guzdol, Mayor of Police represented the local community.

As a fantastic token of their appreciation the school put on a small concert consisting of a Children’s Choir and a demonstration of Wheelchair formation dancing. An excellent meal was also provided which was followed by some discussions on future co-operation.September 2007, Phil Brooks
